The South Pointe hospital Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery program has an outstanding reputation of excellence. The current two-year program will become a three-year program in July 2012.
Applicants for the program must have three years of general surgery training or completion of otolaryngology or orthopedics training. We do not offer a six-year combined program. The Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery program includes training in private practice, community hospitals/surgery centers, and county hospitals in the following:
- Congenital deformities.
- Malignancies and benign tumors of the head and neck, skin, and soft tissue.
- Trauma and acquired deformities of the face, trunk, and lower extremities.
- Aesthetic procedures.
- Surgery of the breast.
- Surgery of the hand.
- Burns.
- Microsurgery.
- Laser procedures.
- Subspecialty electives can be performed in: anesthesiology, craniofacial surgery, urological surgery, laser techniques, orthopedic surgery, pediatric plastic surgery, and surgical oncology.
