Applicants are required to document board certification in their specialty by a board approved by the Medical Executive Committee or board eligibility at the time of application and obtain certification within five years of application or time specified by the applicable board. If no Board examination is offered in the specialty you are requesting, it is the burden of the applicant to demonstrate equivalent competence to board certification. This requirement will be effective for all new applicants after January 1, 2002. Existing members of the medical staff are exempt from this requirement.
